Hi there! I’m Pilar, and I’m incredibly passionate about what I do.
My journey with dogs began during my childhood in Quito, Ecuador, where I frequently brought home abandoned street dogs in need of care and love. This early experience ignited a deep love and commitment to animals. After achieving the title of Miss Ecuador at 21 and completing my college education in Louisiana, I pursued my passion for dog training by earning my certification. This pivotal moment led me to fulfill my dream of opening School of Paws—a comprehensive canine training program nestled in beautiful Encinitas in San Diego County!
At School of Paws, we offer a range of services, including private training and classes in collaboration with Get Pawsitive Dog Training. Additionally, I dedicate my time as a volunteer at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, furthering my commitment to animal welfare and education.
As a pet owner myself, I understand the importance of establishing and nurturing trust in our relationships with our furry companions. This philosophy is especially evident in my bond with Koda, our beloved German Shepherd. Koda’s responsiveness to positive training methods has deepened our connection, enriching our lives each day.

I am a strong believer in mutual trust and understanding with your pet and positive training. Our goal is simple – foster effective communication between you and your pup so that they become happy and confident members of your family! The result? We want confident doggies that love being part of a healthier bond with their owners – because having an improved “working” relationship makes life more “pawsome” for everyone involved!
